As I've mentioned several times, I have two flatmates; Vicky from Hong Kong and Priya from Sri Lanka. Well a few nights ago, after I had one day casually mentioned to Priya that I would love to try authentic Sri Lankan food, she cooked up a feast for us. She did it entirely from scratch, I don't think I've ever seen that many spices on the counter- and all of them things I don't know how to use properly. She made Curry from scratch and Tandori chicken, rice, Raita, okra, and a sweet dessert called Kesari made from Semolina. It was all so delicious! And she made is super mild for us (Neither Vicky nor I can handle much spice) and still our mouths were burning and my nose was running. After dinner we hung out and talked about our languages and the different ways we say things and pronounce things. I didn't know the Sri Lanka has two languages: Tamil and Sinhalese. Priya speaks Tamil but grew up studying in English at an international school back home. She's here as an International student, not an exchange student.
Here's more from the meal!

I hope she'll give me a couple lessons cause the food was amazing!! This is one of my favorite parts of exchange - learning about the other cultures around me.
