Sleepy Town

So Adelaide is a bit of a sleepy town. Right now its actually not sleepy at all because of the fringe but I have been warned, come the end of March, the city falls back into its slumber. That being said, it sort of has to create and fabricate tourist attractions. Nevertheless, I'm having some fun exploring regardless of the fact the no one knows of these things unless you live here.

Such potential followed by such disappointment. The markets are apparently wonderful but the trip (planned by my residence) was accidentally planned for the very weekend that 90% of the booths were going to another, one weekend only, festival. So its was rather empty. But I made a little lemonade and convinced some friends to walk home with me after. And though it took us an hour to walk home, the weather was idyllic and we saw some lovely things along the way.

Hahndorf

On Saturday I went to Hahndorf, a German Settlement established in 1839 that's located in Adelaide Hills, about 45 mins from the City Center. It was a quaint little town a lot like the main strip of Banff - very touristy but sweet. We also went strawberry picking while we were there.

Henley Beach

Monday was a long weekend for Adelaide Cup day or I think Adelaide just decided to celebrate my Sister's Birthday! So there was no school. I headed to the beach with my flatmates and some friends. You know, it never occurred to me that anyone would go to the beach and not want to be in the sun whether it be playing or tanning. However, Priya, my Sri Lankan flatmate and Lakshmi (Malaysian) and Chuta (also Sri Lankan) did not bring bathing suits or towels. Apparently in Sri Lanka they don't want to get any darker so they go to the beach to play in the water and they have little huts set up so you can get out of the sun. Vicky and I, with our gleaming white skin, wanted to take advantage of the plus 30 weather and tan as much as we possibly could. We also played in the sand a bit too. Henley Beach is a lot like the others we've been to but a little more difficult to get to. I'm not sure we'll go back.

Those are my most recent adventures. Now to try and focus on a little bit of school work!!
