Where to begin! The last two legs of my flight trip went smoothly without much event. I slept reasonably well on my long haul flight and the shorter one (only 6 hours) from Auckland to Adelaide was rather empty and so it was nice and easy.
Air New Zealand is a rather nice airline which in many ways reminds me of what Air Canada used to be before they started cutting all their services. Here are some of the safety videos that they show on the flight.
Video One and
Video Two. The food service was good, especially for Airplane food.

Oh the relief I felt when the plane landed in Adelaide. I'm pretty happy to have that major flying behind me. 34 hours of traveling turns into this time warp where you kinda stop noticing the hours pass and when you cross days like you do when going west, you kind of loose your time altogether. When I arrived I actually didn't feel too bad, just a wee bit zombie like but overall good.
At 10:30am Saturday morning I arrived in Adelaide airport to the (free) UniSA welcome wagon which met me as soon as I came out with my bags and had a driver there ready to take me to where I am living. What a sweet blessing to just have it organized and taken care of. Thanks UniSA! We're off to a good start!
So I arrived at my new home after picking my driver's brain about all kinds of things. I tried not to pay too much attention to the driving because they drive on the other side of the road here and it was a bit trippy, especially after so much flying and so little sleep. Then I arrived at Urbanest and after a bit of paperwork was taken up to my room.
I have been on lease since January 1st and so expected people to have arrived and settled in but I walked into an entirely empty apartment! It was really clean though and so nice to just have everything here ready for me. I now have one roommate named Vicki. She's from Hong Kong and is studyign Psychology at the University of Adelaide. I've mostly spent my days getting settled and grocery shopping. I also found Australia's version of the dollar store- its called "The Reject Shop". I managed to keep myself up till 9:30 last night and slept till about 6:30 in the morning. It's 9:00 now and I'm starting to feel tired again but i will push myself to stay up later. Jet Lag should be gone very soon.
So less typing more pics! Here's a glimpse into my new life:
