Where are you going?

The city I am heading to is called Adelaide and is the capital city of the province of South Australia. It is also considered the 5th largest city in Australia with a population of about 1.2 million people. I've heard it compared to Calgary in size and overall vibe.

Its known for its festivals which apparently occur during their summer, right around when I'll be arriving there. There is the Adelaide Festival of Arts from March 2-18th and the WOMADelaide from the 9th till the 12th of March. There is also the Adelaide Fringe Festival from Feb 24th till March 18th. I'll also have to check out the Adelaide Festival Center which seems to be a hub of performance activity. Sadly I've just discovered that I will be missing the run of Chorus Line which closes Jan 29th. Too bad. A couple of different dance companies will be coming so I'll have to keep an eye on that!

Clearly Adelaide is a hub for artistic activity which will no doubt serve as both entertainment and inspiration!

On the school front, things seem a bit more confusing. A new University system means a new mess to deal with. Enrollment only opens in another week for me and so far courses I have been instructed to take in order for things to transfer properly are indeed, full. Oh dear. I had been warned about this though. I will have to meet with an adviser when I get to Adelaide and have them sort it out. I've been told they are very understanding and accommodating for exchange students.  In fact it has been built right in to my International Student Orientation. which starts on Monday February 13th. The planned timetable can be seen here. The following week is the regular orientation for the whole school- I have only one day of Program specific orientation on the tuesday. There seems to be no University wide new student orientation that I can find which is a bit strange. I think everything will make a lot more sense and become a whole lot clearer when I actually get there.

In the meantime, I am frantically trying to see everyone before I leave town in just over 2 weeks. Aaaahhhh!
